Just to let you know!

Champaign Township will be closing Kirby Ave the morning of March 17th for road surface replacement just west of the Copper Slough bridge, and will be closed until March 28th, weather permitting. This is to let the residents who travel west over the Kirby bridge at I-57 know that they will have to take a different route.

This work is needed because of the closure of Windsor Road by the City of Champaign from April 1st until August, weather permitting.

Windsor Road will close to enable workers to do dirt work on the east and west side of the I-57 overhead, so as to add sidewalks and bike paths on the north side and south side of Windsor Road. Work done by a City contractor, who has yet to be chosen.

The work will go faster and safer with the road closed, same safety concern for Kirby Ave. Kirby Avenue has road surface failure, west of the Copper Slough Bridge decided it would not handle extra traffic once Windsor Road is closed.

Average daily travel on Kirby Avenue is 8400 cars a day!

Average daily travel on Windsor Road is 13400 a day!

It is surely not a safe place to be along side of active road trying to work and go home safely!
